About

Earl R. Lindgren Architects was founded in 1967 in Naugatuck, Connecticut, just outside of Waterbury. In the intervening years, the firm has built its reputation on its commitment to design and excellence for superior service. We strive for three goals essential to good design: economy, function, and delight. Our work has no single design approach or style as each solution is unique to the specific needs of the client. A large percentage of our work comes from satisfied repeat clients - attesting to the trust our clients place in us.

Earl R. Lindgren

Principal Architect

Earl R. Lindgren received a Bachelor of Architecture (Engineering Option) from the University of Illinois. He worked as a structural engineer in Chicago and Seattle Prior to moving to the Waterbury area where he worked for Architect Joseph Stein. In 1967 he opened his own architectural practice in Naugatuck where he continues to specialize in additions and renovations to existing residences and select institutional and commercial buildings. Mr. Lindgren's designs have won several awards. While working in Seattle, his design of the Highland Covenant Church of Redmond, WA was given the highest award given by the International Federation of Religious Art and Architecture (IFRAA). Also, while in Seattle, he was part of the team that designed the concrete arches at the Seattle Science Center for the 1963 World's Fair. The arches and space needle, still standing, remain the primary symbols of the World's Fair.

During his employment with Joseph Stein, he prepared the drawings for the Waterbury Club, which was given awards by both the New England Society of Architects and the American Institute of Designers. In 1986, Mr. Lindgren's firm received an award from the American Institute of Architects and Modern Healthcare Magazine for the design of Covenant Village of Cromwell, a Continuing Care Retirement Community. This award was one of seven given nationally, and the only one on the East Coast.

Mr. Lindgren enjoys travel, sports, reading and the outdoors. He is an avid camper; he and his family has visited numerous national parks across the country. He loves to spend time with his two daughters and four grandsons.
